SuperEnalotto HISTORY

Italy SuperEnalotto is a pari-mutuel lottery, which means that the total jackpot divided among the winners will be determined by the quantity of lottery tickets sold, and is equal to 34.648% of the money gathered. Everybody wins a prize with the Italian Lottery SuperEnalotto, because each prize division receives a share of the jackpot, with this slice being split between all the winners in the division.

JACKPOT

‘Enalotto’ is a well-known Italian lottery which has existed since 1950’s. In 1997 it was modified by the official lottery to ‘SuperEnalotto’. Since July 1, 2009 the numbers have been drawn independently of the Lottomatica draws. There is one single draw for the six winning numbers and the “Jolly” number and a second independent draw for the “SuperStar” number. The “Jolly” number gives an additional chance to those who have matched 5 numbers and only affects the second prizes and not the jackpot. The largest single-ticket jackpot up to date is worth €177,800,000 ($247,943,104). This was won by group participation of 70 winners on October 30, 2010.
